How I Became a Medium

“The cards were never the source of my intuition. They were one of the languages through which my intuition had learned to speak.”

The Story Begins

My story as a psychic medium is probably not the one you might expect.

I grew up in a household led by two medical doctors, both Virgos, appropriately enough. Science, medicine, and the tangible world were emphasized far more than the mystical. My earliest exposure to spirituality came through my Catholic upbringing, and as a child, I had very little language for many of the experiences happening within me.

I simply knew that my inner world was extraordinarily vivid. At school, my imagination would often carry me far beyond the classroom and into the cosmos. Looking back, I recognize these as some of my earliest encounters with the intuitive sensitivity that would eventually become central to my life and work.

Intuitive ability also runs through both sides of my family, particularly through dreams. While I was in college, I learned that my great-grandmother, who grew up in Spain and lived with me when I was a child, had been a spiritual healer and Tarot reader in her village during the Spanish Civil War. She had already passed when I discovered this part of her story, but learning about her helped me recognize a spiritual thread that had existed within my family long before I had words for it.

Still, I never set out to become a medium.

My conscious exploration of the mystical began with astrology. I started studying it in 2004 and became fascinated by the idea that human beings could be profoundly different from one another and that those differences could carry meaning. In 2012, that curiosity deepened when I began studying Tarot and metaphysical spirituality at Mystic Mountain Gifts in Royal Oak, Michigan. Through spiritual teacher Sandy Stevens and the community surrounding the shop, I was introduced to Tarot, psychic development, meditation, intuition, spiritual protection, and shadow work. Psychic mediums Candace Isaacson and Patti Gignac also expanded my understanding of mediumship through their workshops and classes. Those gatherings became part of the foundation of my spiritual education, and Sandy eventually gave me my first professional opportunity as a Tarot reader.

During the 2020 pandemic, I began offering free one-card Tarot readings through livestreams on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. I would pull a card and follow the symbols, sensations, impressions, and messages that arose.

My mentor, Damona Hoffman, began noticing something in those readings that I had not yet recognized in myself. She repeatedly told me that what she was witnessing seemed to extend beyond my interpretation of the cards and encouraged me to study mediumship.

Then, for my birthday in February 2025, Damona gifted me sessions with the Los Angeles Spirit Academy. That experience became a turning point. I began formally developing my mediumship and went on to complete the Academy’s three-month Platform Progressive Program, training in the development and practice of mediumship in a public platform setting.

Through that training, I came to understand something that had quietly followed me throughout my life: the cards were never the source of my intuition. They were one of the languages through which my intuition had learned to speak.

My Work Today

Today, my work as a Platform Medium centers on connection, remembrance, healing, and the understanding that the love we share with those who have passed does not simply disappear when the physical body dies.

My practice is rooted in evidential mediumship. Rather than offering only general spiritual messages, I seek to receive specific information that may help identify the person in Spirit. This can include personality traits, memories, relationships, physical characteristics, meaningful objects, names, sensations, symbols, or details surrounding a person’s life.

Often, I do not know why a particular detail matters. The person receiving the message does.

I have watched someone recognize a loved one through a private memory, a familiar expression, or a seemingly insignificant detail that carries profound meaning to them. I have watched laughter return as someone remembers the personality of a parent, sibling, partner, grandparent, or friend. I have also witnessed grief soften through the recognition that the relationship they shared continues to carry love and meaning.

I approach this work with openness, compassion, and discernment. Mediumship is not intended to replace grief, personal agency, medical or mental health care, faith, or an individual’s own relationship with God or Spirit. Nor do I believe that a medium should become the authority over another person’s life.

For me, mediumship is ultimately about connection, peace, love, and meaning. What began as something I could barely explain as a child has become one of the greatest privileges of my work: standing at the bridge between the seen and unseen, listening carefully, and sharing what comes through.
